Recording Drums. Here's what I have, how would you set it?

Hello all.

I'm tracking some drums & would like some opinions from the pro's! :-)

Here's what I have to work with.
Mackie 1604 XDR going direct out into my Delta 1010 & Logic Gold.
I have 8 Bal ins & I could also use the Digi ins & a SB Live ins.

I have an RNC Comp & a 3630 (that I don't usually use for recording.)

two questions about recording drums

I have to record drums next week. I've never done it before. I've got one Neumann TLM 103, one Shure SM57, two Shure SM58's and one Sennheiser 421 at my disposal (note: no bass drum mic)

I don't mind buying a bassdrum mic but which? The AKG D112? The Sennheiser E602? Something by Peavey? That's my first question.

Recording Drums

Coming up this weekend I have my first session with drums. I have an M-Audio Delta 44 card with a sixteen channel four bus mixer. My question is, should I record the kit with two overhead's, a snare mic, and a kick mic? or should i mic the whole kit and try to get a good sound to tape using two of the buses? Also, What would any of you suggest as the best way to position the overheads?

2 Tracks for recording drums

Well I'm a little short on cash (read: short about $3000) so I only have an sb live (left and right channels on line in), a small 4 channel mixer, and a mic preamp-amp, a radio shack 3 mic passive mixer and 7 mics to use with this setup. I'm doing some cheap home recordings so I can remember this stuff when I can get a digi001 or C-port and an 8 bus mixer... you know the spiel.
