recording guitar with pro tools 002 rack
Forums
I'm building my studio around a Digidesign 002 pro tools rack, currently I have tried Micing my marshall avt150 with two mics, a Shure SM57 and an SM58 with some reverb on the amp, with it set on the second overdrive channel to get some majorly rocking distortion and routing each channel in pro tools via a bus with compression and delay plugins, then mixing the two mic inputs.

Recording guitar w/ 2 x 12" cabinet
Forums
I wanted to know your opinions on recording w/ two 12" speakers.
I have been thinking about getting a two 12 cabinet to record with. Is there really any reason that most guys use a four 12 cabinet?
Shouldn't two 12's be enough?
Of course my guitar amp head is like 125W.

Recording Guitar

I am starting to track guitar.
The guitarist I am going to track has cheap gear.
One of those Behringer V-Amp heads w/a 1X12 speaker.
It has XLR outs L/R. Does anyone record guitar on a, "stereo" track L/R? Should I just run one channel into my Brick and record mono? Is this rig worth putting a mic on?

Recording guitar through Line 6 POD
Forums
Hi everyone, Ive got a client who wants his guitar reorder through a Line 6 POD, with no amp... Ive never recorded an electric guitar with no amp as its done sometimes with a bass guitar. What do you think of this? I told this guy its always better Micing (or miking, however its spelled) the amp with one or more mics, you can get some ambience, but he insists.

recording guitar amps
Forums
I really enjoyed the bass amp thread, so i thought it would be fun to have another thread on recording guitars. i guess I'm being selfish and i want this for my own benefit, but lets talk about music styles and whatnot.

Recording guitar direct! what do you use?
Forums
I've been getting ok results recording my guitar direct to my DAW but would like to see if anyone has any suggestions or tips to give it some "air" or "room space". in other words it sounds very dry and in your face.
here is my setup.
guitar/ effects pedals(eq/distortion/chorus/delay)/ tube preamp/ ADA Microcab(cabinet simulator)/ Emu 1212m(sound card).
