My cousin recently got a new system, the old is a dual core "sweet water creation station" the new is just a Mac Pro quad, and UA Apollo quad.

The question is mainly about bit rate and if the raw audio files would just transfer, or if there's a process. I know so little about CPU stuff that I'm unsure about how os/daw system bit rate effects older files.

I need a tape transfer from an MK20J tape to DVD or HD

Very very newb question. I'm trying to transfer some old audio tapes to mp3. I've got a stereo mic cable going from a tape deck to my sound card, but it's only recording the left speaker.

The soundcard only has one input; will I be able to transfer the tapes in stereo? If I could even record each channel in mono I could mix them afterwards...

I have a couple of choral music cassettes which were semi-professionally recorded by our church long ago.

I would like to have them digitized and any necessary EQ / noise reduction performed, so that I can burn a few CD-Rs for church members.

I have a ZOOM MRS-1044 which I've had for a few years. I've transferred tracks onto mini-disc which (somehow) I managed to transfer to my old PC via the mic input and put onto CD with no problems. I have replaced my PC and now find it cannot be done.

Hey folks! So? Who can transfer what I believe to be a 16 track, 1/2 inch "Fostex" master, with or without noise reduction and a 1/2 inch 4 track, to a hard drive or multiple DVD ROM's? I'm in the BALTO/WASH area and would prefer someone localy but would consider shipping these 2, 10 inch SCOTCH 226 & 250 masters away. They aren't mine and the client is wondering about cost?

Looking for opinions on tracking to 2" at 15ips with Dolby SR then transferring to Pro Tools HD vs. recording straight to Protools, from people who have experienced it. Does it sound better?

I know this is periferal to this forum, but I'm stuck, not so much as how to get the files transferred, but as to WHY this particular thing happened. Sessions were recorded on Sonar to PC because of the good piano at the studio. Files were then changed to AIFF files in Wavelab 5 and successfully transferred via an FTP site. Problem: files of 1 gig or more weren't transferred for some reason.
