OK guys...it was suggested in another topic for a new Interface
to look into an M-Audio Audiophile Pre USB for my computer.

What about an Audiophile Firewire?

And what about the E-Mu 1820 or 1820m?
Ever since I saw one of these, I've become rather enamored of it...

Now remember...these are just for V-O...no music recording and no simultaneous I/O...

Ok, this may seem really really dumb, but the usb port on the back of the unit is for connection to your computer. right? so that the sound can be recorded on your computer thru that? or what. I'm getting confused. because...if its an all-in-one sound interface...you dont need another pci sound card with 1/4' i/o to connect it to the audiophile to record sound from whereever right?

Is there anyway of turning an Audio Out (Headphone) signal into a usb digital signal..

I don't have a brilliant sound card, and i would actually prefer it if there was some way of turning an audio conneciton into a usb connection.

(Incase i have to use a different computer)

Im thinking of buying M-Audio's Firewire Solo to use with my laptop as a mobile setup, however the laptop only has USB sockets. Im wondering if anybody has succsessfully used a FW to USB conversion jack in this type of situation

I've eagerly searched the archive but haven't really found the answers, so I'm hoping to kick off an old thread but with a particular
interest here.

I recently switched over to the Mac world to do some video and music recording and have begun with a little iMac 1.8 G5 and 1GB of ram. I picked up an EDIROL UA-25 for the USB music interface and have been mucking around with garage band etc. playing keboard and guitar through it.

Issue:
Two MOTU 896HD units=Stutter on playback. Stutter location intermittent and moves locations.

is it a daw? does it sound good? for 150bucks it looks nice...is this a soundcard type mixer too? thanks
