Hi All,
Was recording a female artist last week and seem to have had some issues. She was nice enough to do the vocals over again, but I'd like to figure out why this happened. First of all she's a very breathy singer, meaning you can hear her breathing quite a bit through the mic. The vocals...

Hi Guys,
We spoke about the importance of checking a mix in mono recently in another thread and it made me think.
We all have our little recipe. I'm interested to read about how others do make sure the reverb on vocals don't partly disapear in mono.
Do you use a mono reverb + a stereo reverb...
Hello!
It's been a while since my last post. I need some help with EQ on my vocals.
Here is a part of a song of mine, which I recorded with a Shure SM7B directly into a Focusrite Saffire Pro24.
I'm not sure about the vocal sound. Is it too bassy, too bright, too harsh, too anything...? After...
This is what I've done so far:
- I've written lyrics that I'm happy with (text + notes for each word + characteristics for the lines).
- I've layed out the melody as a fake piano ontop of the instrumental track.
- I've analyzed what's the most practically useful method of recording, to minimize...
Hey everybody,
I'm a producer of various genres of electronic music, but I mainly focus on progressive and electro house.
I recently finished a track: that I think would go great with a vocalist. (The first verse would probably start at 30 seconds in after the intro)
If you're interested in...
I would like to start recording vocals (just for fun/hobby) and I want to get the best sound possible. The instrumental tracks have already been mixed, I just need to add vocals. I've read some of the threads here, and I know that preventing unwanted reflections is ONE of the key elements...
Hi,
I've got a session tomorrow and Saturday with a classical vocal sextet and am looking for advice in terms of miking them.
The mics I'll be using are a pair of Rode NT5's small diaphragm condensers and pair of Audio Technica AT4040 large diaphragm condensers. The venue is a small church...
I am brand new at recording and have recorded a few Christian songs (with a pre-recorded accompaniment track) of my 11 year old granddaughter singing. They actually turned out quite professional sounding, even as commented by another recording studio owner. I used Garageband for that. I also...
Hello!
I'm sorry if this is in the wrong forum. I did a search but didn't find anything useful, which I guess is because not many use the 58A for recording vocals. It fits my voice like a hand in a glove. I've been using a 12+ year old 12 channel mackie mixer (don't remember the model name atm)...
Hi!
So I did my first mix using the vocal rider but I still feel I need to compress vocals before hitting the vocal rider. The vocals where very dynamic so I set the vocal rider to fast and max sensitivity without a compressor but it just sounded as a mess with huge peaks up and down in volume...
Whats up guys, I've been watching a ton of videos in regards to buses and sends and kind of got the hand of it. However, I came across this [="http://www.waves.com/content.aspx?id=91#Vocal"]mixing vocals with waves[/] plugins featuring Yoad Nevo. In the the video he has a single mono...
Hi to everyone!
I had read on many forums, that which is the best mic for the recording metal vocal...Everyone said the shure sm7b, but this is expensive for me + I must buy a preamp too. The next mic they recomended is the shure sm58. The otherside say, the dynamic mics are sucks for...
Hi all,
Thanks for your help in advance...
I haven't done this mic setup before; I have a small consult requested from a one person performer who travels and wants me to set up an easy use mixer and single mic to pick up both vocals and acoustic guitar that he can do himself.
He's got a...
Hey everyone.
I have a Rode NT1-A, and I'm not a big fan of its pop filter. Now, I've seen the band Queen have a condenser mic, similar to that Rode (in terms of look of the instrument), and they used a pop filter like this on it:

Hi All,
I'm just looking to get started in home recording and was looking for some input on a Mic. As far as software goes, my friend has what is needed on his laptop so we've got the basics, we just now need the Microphone to get us going.
I was looking for an opinion on USB Mic's -

Hello, guys! Anybody knows of filtering technique of Rock vocals in 60's..70's+? I mean vocals of Beatles, Blondie, Quatro, ZZTop, LedZep, early AC/DC and similar. What types of filters were used: LPF/HPF/.., secret comb filtering, phase related filtering,..? Wikipedia tells that Mr. Martin used...
Looking for vocal mixes I found this today and enjoyed it so much I couldn't help but post it. Kudo's to the Canadian sound.
