What's a good and reasonably priced (new or used) 4-ch. instument direct-box? I would be hooking it up to a transformer-balanced mic preamps on a console on a regular basis.

You get what you pay for. Since it is the quality of the transformer in the DI that is responsable for most of the work, the better the transformers in the DI the better it is and more expensive it is. http://www.whirlwindusa.com makes some of the cheaper ones.

Also look to Radial (a Canadian company) that do some really cool things with multi-channel active DIs.

Been running an EWI ADB-404 4-channel unit for awhile. Clean and quiet and seems to help fatten up whatever gets put through it a little bit. Like it alot. There's one here:

Yup, here is another one for Radial Engineering, this stuff is built for the pros. You pay a little more though, they use Jenson Iron.

Their Di Boxes come in a variety of choices. They also offer a J-rack that can be used to mix diferent DIs.
