Any 64 bit windows testers out there? Cakewalk recently announced Sonar x64. I'd give it a try myself if I had a 64 bit system, but alas, I do not. If any of you do, why don't you give it a shot?

I'll consider trying it. I've got a 64, a spare HDD, a copy of the Win 64 Beta (I'm testing it at work) and the Sonar download is no problem. The only problem I see is the limited sound card choices. The only thing on that very small list I have is the SB Live and it's already in the Athlon 64 system (for gaming). I guess I could determine performance gains but sound quality would certainly be poor. I'm gonna have to think about this one.

In the meantime if anyone out there has a 64 bit processor and one of the following soundcards,

    M Audio *
    Edirol *
    Soundblaster *

    * the specific models are listed on the Sonar site

Let us know if your going to test it and please report back your findings.

NOTE: Don't put this on your main system. If you've never been a tester before you should know Alpha and Beta versions are riddled with bugs and it is your job to help find them and report it back to the software manufactuer. Expect crashes and lockups. It behooves you to use a spare system if at all possible or at the very least a spare HDD. That way you can keep your main drive disconnected while testing the Beta's on a second drive and your main drives data stays protected.

Good find David, nice to know what's on the horizon.

I have a hp iq touchsmart computer. it has 64 bit os, with 4 gig ram, 500 drive. and have sonar 8 on it. it works just fine. but if you use some of the interfaces in the program, you start to use your cpu up..... but it dose work just fine for now..

I have a quad core, and Windows 7 RC x64...
I'd happily test this and write it up if I could find the page.

What doesn't help is how this topic is 4 years old.

Yup. And, Sonar x64 has been on the market now for nearly as long.

I have 7rc a delta 1010lt and Sonar 5 currently functioning but haven't put the stripped down gear back together yet to actually record proper.

But it does record and it does do audio...so there is hope.

    Win7 rc x64, Kristal.

Hardly stripped down & it just about works for small projects.

Tracktion 2, Audition 2 and 3, Protools M 7, Reaper all work just fine on Win 7 RC.

For that matter so does the Fireface 800, Onyx 1640, M-Audio FW410 dongle, and Konnekt 24D.
