ASUS recommends this ram chip if you use 1gb Corsair 800 chips on an ASUS P5W DH Deluxe MB

which is very expensive and has a Cas latency of 5, but this chip

is half the price and has a Cas latency of 4. Is there an advantage to the more expensive chip? Is the Cas Latency that important?

The two DRAMs you link to operate on different voltages. Unless the Asus MB can read the SPD EEPROM before powering up the main memory and crank the volts to the correct value, I would look for a nearer equivalent.

Generally, lower CAS latency indicate higher quality memory but I personnally recommend not to take the lower latency to increase general stability of your system....
