Best VST compressor

    What do you think the best VST compressor is? why?

    The best one is the one that works best for whatever you're using it for at that moment.

    That being said, you'd likley find that something from the UAD collection would be just what the doctor ordered.

    Agreed.. get the UAD-1 stuff.

    Otherwise have look to Sonalksis and PSP VintageWarmer. Very analog sounding...

    I use Sonalksis often. Another 'warming' type that you might look into is Tritone Audio's ValveTone. It's really quite nice.

    Maybe it's Tritone Digital....

    Are the UAD-1 packs worth getting with DSP processing cards?

    Yes. Especially since you don't have a choice.

    FWIW the UA Fairchild rarely does wrong, and the LA2A is another of my faves.

    Which of the packages is the best one to go for. How much processing can the DSP cards handle?

    The best one is the Ultra Pak. Very useful. It would be nice to have 2 cards though, (for the second one you would just have to buy the project pak or course) so you don't have to worry about DSP load. If you mix at 96k it would almost be a necessity.
