CAD M177 Microphone?

Discussion in 'Microphones (live or studio)' started by lonestar19444, May 9, 2007.

  1. Can anyone give me some input for this mic? I use it for a vocal mic but I cannot compare to others since its my first mic. I put it through an ART tube and I cant get a good sound from it, but I'm not sure if it is the tube or the mic. If anyone has this microhpone or have used it, feel free to respond.

I am strictly using it for acoustic guitar and vocals.
  2. The M177 is a great mic for it's price.
I think a lot of the good sounds you hear are because of the mic and not as much the ART preamp.

What in tarnation are you saying? The guy said that he CAN'T get a sound out of the mic, whatever that means...
I have a couple of the M179's, the multi-pattern version of your mic. I use them as room mics (omni) when I'm in the studio, and for brass sections (figure-8) when I do live SR for big bands. They're no Neumanns, but they aren't schlock, either. I have no idea what you are getting picked up, so to say it's the mic or the preamp would be premature. I will say that in MANY instances, a large diaphragm mic used in the wrong environment can sound BAD because it picks up all of the "room flutter" and other artifacts of an acoustically-challenged room. So, anway give us some more info on what you are experiencing...
