  1. I haven't been able to find too much information on these, other than through the CAD site itself. Anyone with first-hand experience or strong opinions on CAD stuff in general?

actually for the money it is an excellent mic. I've only recorded with it once, and was very pleased with the results. It now finds a home on stage in front of a guitar cab.

I use a CAD M9 and M179 - love'em both. I use to be a dealer (amongst other 'affordable' brands), and never had any issues with CAD - they always won out to my ear.
Tried the 6000 and 8000 - if the 8000 had a bass roll-off, would have kept it and sold my M9.
Don't have the room or the preamp to really take advantage of a ribbon mic so didn't bother trying the 7000 but have heard good things.
Lots of good mics out there for the money, and CAD's definetely one of them.
