I have downloaded some midi cover songs from limewire on cakewalk format. I can open the tracks o.k. But when I try to reasign the sounds to my e-mu proteus sound module. It will not retain the changes. I am using cakewalk pro audio 9. Can anyone offer any help on this subject :(

Cakewalk Pro Audio 9 is really old - it lists compatibility with Windows 95/98 but doesn't even mention 2000 or XP. Looks like about a 1999 vintage package. I'd bet the software just isn't designed to work with the modules you describe.

Have you opened up your Event List Editor and assigned or inserted a Program Change Message in each track that changes it to the Proteus?

I have written some other songs on cakewalk. I am currently using windows xp & have succesfully assigned sounds from the e-mu proteus. On these songs the whole system behaves fine, however with the downloaded cover versions it continually switches back to it's original program settings. I'm a little unsure of how I assign a program change in the event list editor but any help is greatly appreciated.
