I have song song where there are 6 people on the track. 5 of them are on a MXL 2001 + a ART Tube OPL preamp with a very close promimity(prox 3 inches. The last vocal is using a MXL 2001 + a Studio Projects VTB1 preamp (prox 6 inches. The new vocal sounds way cleaner. What would be the best way to make the old vocals or new vocal sound like they match?

Yep, knightfly beat me too it but you would need to re-record them. MXL 2001? is that the Marshall mic? No offence but if that is the marshall I would look into getting a better mic. Take a look at Audix and AT they both make great inexpensive microphones. Cheap isn't allways best.

    Cheers,

I know the mic is crap. I didn't buy it. When I do buy a mic, it will be the C1.

Some of artist have moved away and are unable to rerecord. Any other ideas?
