Cubase - Exporting Selected Tracks

I have an issue with Cubase SX3.

    1) I imported 10 MP3 files into a project, each one sitting on a different track.

    2) I trimmed off the first 5 seconds of each track using the split tool.

    3) I selected all tracks.

    4) I went to File - Export - Selected Tracks

    6) I choose "copy" when the pop-up asked for "copy" or "reference"

    7) The tracks exported. However, it is exporting the complete track. The 5 seconds that I deleted from the beginning of each track is still there in the exported file.

So, my question is, how can I split a track, then export it, but have it export the new trimmed version. After I split the track, delete the split, and export it, the parts I deleted are still exporting out.

    Thanks for your help!

You should check your marker position at the top of the arrangement window and make sure your beginning marker is set to the beginning of your trimmed tracks then set the end marker the same way then export....export always takes everything set within the two markers.

How did you not end up with a massive, clipping jumble of sound? unless the tracks were spaced end to end, in which case you would have one very long track?

Make sure when you set your markers that the space between them is blue, not red.

I have to admit I am not familiar w/ sx3. only LE so I quite possibly have been absolutly no help!! LOL!

To avoid the problem OCD mentions, go to and search for MEAP. Multi-export something something. Of course, you have to be a registered Cubase owner. You're a registered Cubase owner right?

Or just mute the other 9 and do them one at a time, with the locators in the right place as others have mentioned.

    Thanks for the great replies!

    Here is what I discovered:

When I use Export - Audio Mixdown (while soloing the correct track and putting marker positions in correct positions) then each individual selected track exports perfectly.

When I use Export - Selected Tracks then it does not take the track edits into consideration, and just copies a raw file of the whole track and its entire length.

The MEAP software looks really useful for this purpose and I am definitely the target market, but there is no trial period available before spending the approx. $40 for the download. If there was a trial, I'd try it out in a heartbeat.

So, all in all, I presume then that the Export-Selected Tracks feature is not a built-in automated solution, and that one is either to manually export using Audio Mixdown or to take the plunge and get the MEAP add-on or a similar solution.

Does this sound like a rational conclusion?

Thanks again for the great community support...
