Is the new 160A sound anything like the older models (X and UV)?

The 160a sounds closer to the "X" than 160VU. Come to think of it, none of their other compressors sounds like a VU(165,160S or SL). The only thing that sounds like a VU is a VU.

Why is that? Why hasn't anyone else including dbx been able to make a hard knee compressor that sounds like the 160VU? I don't think it would be that hard but what do I know?

Actually we can, and do, it is called the 160sl. Or do you mean why can't dbx make a unit that sounds like the 160VU for $500?

    Hey Jay,

Do you still have that DOD Gonkulator that was listed on your website gear list? If yes, do you want to sell it to me? I love that ^#$%ed up pedal.

p.s. I just realized I should have sent this offline, sorry Julian. If you've got a second go ahead and delete it.
