few simple questions...

Discussion in 'Recording' started by StereoBoxJosh, Dec 19, 2007.

  1. although, i'm a drummer, drums are always the most difficult for me to record...

    1. drum overheads, what polar pattern should i have them on?

    2. is it considered a "no-no" to record the drums in parts?

    3. the snare is way too loud on the overhead, any way to fix that post recording?

    thanks,

    1) Depends on the placement and the imaging you are looking to achieve.

    2) (Do you mean only part of the song at one time, or specific pieces i.e. only the snare, only the kick, only the toms?) Depends on the type of music - for rock I'd say no, for dance type stuff why not...

    3) Don't hit it so hard.
