Im using Adobe Audition to record. and whenever im saving an audio file it gives me options of what format to save to. Im guessing i want to save to . WAV for the highest quality. But there are a few different types to choose from. What do i choose?

Often a warning pops up when i save and it says that im saving to a compressed (lossy) format and to make sure i back up the orginal file. How do i do this? How do i not compress at all?

Save as Windows PCM, or Microsoft Wave, whatever Audition calls it.

saving as PCM won't bring up that "saving to lossy" message
