I'm recording rock/pop music (focusing on drums) on my Powerbook thru a MOTU 896 and I'm looking to make some upgrades....pre's first, then possibly converters....

So who else is out there on a Mac recording 8 channels (or more) thru a Firewire interface......? What are you using, what have you upgraded to/from and how is it all working for you...?

Who is using sperate converters and seperate pre's....?

Let me hear your pro's and con's.....

    Thanks !!

Im not using 8 channels at once yet but the rme fireface 800 is
something that you dont need to go out right away and buy pre's or converters for as the onboard stuff is pretty good as is.
Im on a g4 ibook. I like the sound Im getting. It replaced my digi 002r.

828 mkii with Digital performer. I also have a 2ch rosetta via spdif for critical tracks (vocals, lead instruments) Am also clocking off the rosetta, not the 828 mkii

I'm using a Motu 828 + a dual G4 and record up to 8 track at once. I don't need more. I use it with Logic Pro and i'm very happy of it's sound. I come from Pro Tools.
