    Hey Fletcher,
It's a pleasure to have you here.
I'm starting up a PC-based DAW in my home in Natick, and am eyeballing that little FMR Really Nice Compressor, both for it's price, and for the good rap it's getting. I know you guys sell'em over at Merc., so I was wondering what your take is on them. Is there any better deal in it's class/price range?

Fletcher is still asleep, so I'll answer this one for him. There's nothing close to the FMR RNC1173 in price that can come close to matching its performance.

    The only negatives are:
    1. It doesn't look very impressive.
    2. It uses a wall wart power supply.
    3. It doesn't have noise gates.
    4. It won't do dual mono.
    5. One is never enough. (I own four of them.)

    The positives are:
    1. Wide range response, out to around 200kHz.
    2. Very low noise, around -120dB, typical.
    3. Super Nice mode is amazing.
    4. Absolutely transparent.
    5. Minimal artifacts, even when pushed hard.
    6. No coloration at any settings.
    7. Control settings are incredibly accurate.

Hey Mark...most of what Harvey says is dead on (except for the 'being asleep part'...this clock is on Pacific Time...I was just "doing my e-mail" when this came in).

The "doesn't look impressive" part has a remedy, which is the 'Funk Logic RN Chevy', or the soon to be released "Funk Logic-69 Merc" [Mercenary Edition]...black faceplate, easier to understand funny nomenclature.

If you're up in Natick, and can make it down to Foxboro...we have "cocktail hour" every Friday at 4:30. Give a call and let us know you're coming...pop on down and have a drink with the crew. When it's warm out, we actually have lawn chairs we circle on the loading dock...it's been a tradition for years, and all are welcome!! We drink, therefor we are!! :D
