I want to build my own miniature studio for recording/mixing, and I would like to ask you some questions about my gear selection. The mixes are supposed to be broadcasted, so the should have pretty good quality (not hoping or going for too much, as here in Romania most bands' mixes are BAD by western standards, so it's not so critical having excellent mixes; also cash shortage is a problem). I've browsed the net for some time now, and I have made some choices. So :

    For recording :
    - guitar amp - Fender FM212R
    - bass amp - some Behringer amp the bass player owns (heard good things 'bout it)
    - vocal mic - Rode NT2A (female vocal) or Audio Technica 4040/4040SV/3035
    - guitar amp mic - Shure SM57 (already owned by the vocal)
    - bass amp mic - ??? (maybe I can use the vocal mic or the SM57?)
    - mic preamp - ??? (I've been thinking 'bout building my own, as I'm pretty handy with the soldering iron; any good schematics you know of?)
    - cables - homemade Gotham and/or Cordial with Neutrik connectors
    - closed headphones - Behringer HP1000 (already owned)

    For mixing :
    - active monitors - M-Audio BX8 or Yorkville YSM1P (115w) (I've heard very good things about the Yorkvilles)
    - sound card - M-Audio Audiophile 2496
    - full digital mixing

    For mastering :
    - considering I have neither the customized room acoustics, needed for mastering, and neither the equipament, I've been thinking of using a master-by-mail company (a pretty cheap one, prefferably ;)). Any suggestions on this?

As you might have noticed, I'm going for low prices, as it's very hard for us to raise a decent amount of money. So, any opinions on gear selection? Thanks in advance...
