isolation headphones

  1. hi, all, I'm thinking about getting some isolation heaphones as I record in one fairly large room. If they really do cut out all external sound and just let you hear the monitor signal that'd be brilliant. But do they really work that well? How much external sound can they cut out? Can you be in a room with loud guitar drums etc and only hear through the desk?
Anyone used them - what do you think?

P.S if there's a thread on this already could someone point me to it?

I like my Sennheiser HD 280's. Nice isolation, loud, and sound pretty glood. I wouldn't mix with em, but for the purpose you are speaking of they'd work ok in my book. A price tag of about $100 if I remember correctly.
  3. thanks, Art - I'll check those out

Yup those are the ones you want.
  5. akg 271 or untrasone 650's..i'd choose either pair over the hd280's

Sweet...something I'll look into...thanks! I thought the Sennheisers had good isolation. When the girlfriend starts complaining I throw those puppies on and it's like she isn't even there! hahah
