Need ideas for miking a drum set.
    Going to be mostly reggae,rock,punk.

    I have in mind
    Snare: e 609, sm 57
    Toms: Beta 56A, e 609
    Kick: Beta 52, e 602, AKG D 112

    What's good for hi-hat?
    What's good floor tom?
What do you think of the mic's listed above?
I made my own Ribbon Mics and they sound like royer 121's
Thinking of using them as overheads.

    That's a big statement.
Can you back it up with pics and samples?

All of the mics in my studio could be considered to be drum mics.......

    I usually use :

    snr: SM57(old) SM57(newer) Audix D2,i5,D4,D1

    sml toms: SM57,Audix D2,D4, AT4033, ADK A51, SM81

    Lrg toms: SM57, Audix D2,D4 AT4033 ADK A51, Shure PG52, ATM25

    Kik: ATM25 Kel HM1 Shure PG52 SM57 Audix D4 U87

    Room: U87, AT4033, ADK SC-T, Octava MK 319, SP B3, SM81

Its all about the tuning. ANY mic will capture sound. Some are purposefully designed to do certain things. Its good to find 'other' things these purposeful designs work well on.
