Which one is better in your opinion? Note I have an MPC4000 if it makes a difference

Neither. They are about the same. Well technically one comes with PT but I'm not sure that is an advantage :)

i like my m-audio 1814, as it has way more in/outs than any of the m-box's. bang for ya buck, that's what i would recommend.

Don't cheap out whatever you do. Buy the absolute best you can afford for the number of inputs you absolutely need. If you can live with two inputs for a while, get the best two input interface you can afford. Save your money for the next upgrade. Until then, make due. Good enough, is never good enough.

ProTools is nice to have if you don't have another option. Otherwise there is Reaper.

    You did not mention budget.

Why not try a few? Logic, Pro Tools, Reaper, Cubase etc. Then decide which one feels right to you.
