Under 600 dollars. I've only seen the virtual guitarist as an option for midi guitar. Can anyone recommend others?
I want to sound like Tool/metallica/ac/dc , metal sound
    Thanks

Guitar ? Well this sounds lame but if you want a real guitar sound you have only one option: hire a guitarplayer!

none of them sound real, but the most "realistic" imo is Realguitar which looks rather acoustic.

Slayer is a vst instument pluggin for cubase. There some great subtle and very intuitive tone and pickup adjustments. Some useful presets to start out. I have gotten lost in this little thing for hours.

fls comes bundled with slayer2. Sounds nothing at all resembling a real instrument. Completely synthetic, and every preset is immediately noticable as being "slayer".
I'm not saying its a bad plugin, it about as far away as you're going to get from what Gorch is asking for.

I don't know if it only my opinion or is shared by any else but... I think that the sound of a distorted guitar is actually the worst emulated one.
So I can't do other than quote Niliov: hire a guitarplayer... sorry..
