  • Royer ribbon microphones - Why?

Simply put, when you put a quality ribbon mic on an instrument, voice, or other sound source, what you hear on playback is closer to real sound in nature than with any other kind of microphone.

I just put them up, in a decadent multi-mic scheme, and ended up using as much of them or more than any other mic! Here are some clips.

Details and pictures of the setup.

My mics are the Tape Op group buy editions which just came in - a tapered grille (from which i removed the fine mesh inner grille and silk bag) but the same ribbon and tranny as the Nady ribbon mics.

(btw.. not sure where to post this as it applies to gear, recording techniques and of course drums...)
