Old cassette based 4 track recorder

    It served me very well. Classic warm and silky analog sound.

    It just that it needs so much work...

    I have a Tascam 244 portastudio bought way back in 1984, I used it to record some original music and then didn't use it
    and kept it in storage until recently. I wanted to play back some of the tapes recorded on it that I hadn't already mixed
    down to standard two track cassettes, and from there to MP3's. The tape transport mechanism is a mess. The belts are
    disintigrated into a fragmented gooey mess. There are other parts of the tape transport mechanism that have also
    deteriorated. I like a challenge and have been attempting repairs. But I would rather find someone with a similar machine
    that I can use to create starndard cassettes with. Does anyone know of a source for use of a 244 portastudio in the Medford
    Oregon area?
