seems i have a few "limited versions" of production software that came with equipment and was wondering what people here prefer to use as their base.

    i have:

    Ableton Live 4.1.2
    Cakewalk Sonar LE
    Cubase LE

i know it is pretty much just user preference but i don't want to spend a lot of time on each one of these before i buy a complete package. i want to get a good software package and spend all my time learning it instead of 3-4 different interfaces. i am not new to music nor computers but i am new to recording digitally with a computer. (damn wish we had this 30 yrs ago)

so if you would be so kind as to tell me what software you mainly use and why you prefer it. thanx

What is it you want to do?

Once you know this, all the other questions will, practically, answer themselves.

Well, Live is really a completely different type of program from Cubase and Sonar.

If you are looking to record multitrack audio and have midi and VST plugin capabilities, then Cubase or Sonar are the ones to look at.

Personally I use Cubase. I like it. It does what I need it to do.
