Hey all, probably a stupid question but I need to know if an MXL-990 condenser mic will work with a Tascam dp-32sd Portastudio without an audio interface. I was thinking of ordering this recorder and mic to get away from computer recording and wanted to make sure I get everything I need at one time.

    Thanks!

Yes it will work! Is it the right mic for the job ? Can't say unless you explain what you want to record ;)

It will work well unless you are in a room with a lot of reflections and/or flutter echo in which case a room threatement or using a dynamic mic that offer better room rejection is recommanded.
The 990 seems like a fairly flat mic which is a good thing if you use it for many purpose, but I would take time to try a few others in your price range, just in case one would favor your voice a bit more.
