so i went with the tascam us122 for my laptop audio needs. for now it should be enough. now i am getting conflicting stories on external storage. i use my laptop for video capture and editing as well as location audio recording. should i go with a usb 2.0 drive or firewire? if i get the firewire i will have to get a firewire card because i only have one port which i use for video capture. i know i will be sharing a lot of resources so i am not sure which way to go....

I would go with firewire. I've helped individuals setup portable systems with MOTU interfaces that had the a firewire drive daisy-chained with no problems.

I'm not sure what the one port issue is, is the port a firewire port?
