I have been thinking about getting "The Brick" and an AT-4040 to record vocals with my current setup a Tascam FW-1884 w/ ADA8000. Is it worth the $450 price tag for the brick??? I am looking for something to warm up my vocals and guitar tones.

    Thanks in advance.

After reading some I am thinking the Brick may not be the way to go. Maybe just the getting AT-4040 and using the pre's on my tascam instead of the ADA-8000 should be the way to go on vox and guitars.

What have you read that has changed your mind? I've been doing a lot of mic tests/experiments using a Brick and I think they sound pretty good.

Keep in mind he was comparing to Onyx pres, which are pretty decent in their own right. I bet the Brick would be a noticable step up over your other pres. But so would the Onyx's.

    You have a good point!

I might get an onyx and sell my ADA8000, actually.
