I've been shopping monitors, and have basically decided to get Yamaha MSP5's. I don't want to debate this, or comparisons to other brands. I like what I like, and you may disagree.

I was looking to save money, and have located some used MSP5's. They're asking $300/pair, but I was hoping to talk them down to $250. Thing is, though, that I'm a little hesitant to pull the trigger. The speakers are in (what seems like) perfect functional condition, but are slightly imperfect cosmetically. I listened on them, and they sound great. I'd think that the cones should be okay, since they have cages protecting them, and they sounded good at low and high volumes. But, the speakers have a few scrapes and marks on them.

Should I pass or should I bite on these. I'm tempted to just get them, as it'd save me at least $200.

As long as you've had a chance to check them out and are satisfied, go for it! Yamaha's are pretty tough.

BTW: MSP5's are very nice, far as I'm concerned - an almost undebatable "easy pick" amongst their competitin - and for a low price, all the better! Even if you do, somday, upgrade, you'll still use them as a reference source...
