Would going from 1.5 to 2 gig be worth it?

I was thinking of updating the memory on my powerbook. I have 1.5 gig. Is it worth to go from 1.5 to 2 gig?

RAM is your friend. The more the merrier. Especially if you're running lots of virtual instruments and stuff.

Is there something happening that makes you think you need more RAM?

I'm of the opinion that anything above 1 GB is dimishing returns except for RAM-based samples.

If your system isn't using all that RAM, it will make absolutely no difference. Not even a bit. The only time it becomes a performance increasing factor is if your projects are causing your computer to use pagefile (physical RAM, hard-disk based) when it would normally use RAM. If this isn't happening, extra RAM won't give you a boost.

Even going from 512 to 1GB, which IS a much-needed boost, I haven't noticed all that much of a difference.

in the utilities folder there's aprogram called activity monitor
