slight twist to the what should I use for micing drums up

what do YOU use to mic drums
Name the lot, over heads, bass drum.. snare ... and please.. please mention how many.. so say how many sm57's you use on the snare :p or how many over heads and where YOU PERSONALLY would place them

Rather interested to see what people do.

Kick- AKG D112 or Shure Beta 52 (Beta 52 if I'm looking for more snap)

    Snare Top- Shure SM57

Snare Bottom (occasionally if I want more "rattle")- Audio Technica 4041

Snare Side (sometimes for a nice crack)- Audio Technica 4041 or SM57

(I rarely use all 3 of the snare mics. Usually just one will do the trick depending on the song)

    HiHat- Audio Technica 4041

Rack and Floor Toms- Shure SM57 (for a natural sound) or Oktava MC012 (the Oktavas have an exaggerated proxemity effect that can generate "the low end from hell")

Overhead- 2 widely spaced XY Neumann TLM103s

Room- 2 AKG 414B/ULS in figure 8 in the corners of the room

  8. I hope this setup doesn't pale in comparison too badly... :?

Kick: D112 through an Earthworks Kickpad (rawk!)
Snare Top: Beyer M201TG (or 57 Beta)
    Snare Bottom: Audix D-1
    Rack Tom: EV 468

Alternatives are EV 868 for kick or floor tom...Beyers as overheads...

    I works with what I gots! :D

BTW, I love it when people talk about setups they use. Maybe it shows my novice status, but it never gets old to's like a car show...take that in a *good* way!
  9. URGH. Damn my editing skills. I meant a AT 4047 as room. But the AT 4070 will have its day, mark my words...
