Chuck. The one I put up tonight is the newest 'mix' . The 2 buss has nothing on it other than a Joey Sturgis plug called 'Mix' and the compression section on it is really low. 1.9 maybe and very little color. All of the changes I made came at the...

Thanks Chuck. Do you feel that I solved the problems from before on this take? It was just a couple of things at the track level mostly involving EQ's and stacking comps. One very serious change took away the entire low mid wash I was hearing.

So with all the help (THANKS GENTLEMEN!!) Please remember this is NOT a mastered track nor is it intended to be.

Thanks for that Kyle. That's kinda the way I tend to mix. My monitoring is good enough to help me identify sheist when I hear it. LOL. In this case , because I'm so close to it as both the songwriter/arranger/engineer/producer, I felt a bunch...

It's less about mixing to a LUFS target and more about not mixing for competitive volume. If you mix hotter than the LUFS standard of a given platform, they might simply turn it down. That's fine if you mixed it to sound good, but it might be...

I gotta thank all you community members for giving a listen and a suggestion or two. It's good for me. And in retrospect, I find myself guilty of one of my Producer sales points......Because this material is MINE I find I'm trying too hard to...

i think that is what's going on. dbX will double freq response errors on tape by a factor of 2 as well as dull transients .... so if the response is + or - 3 db with the dbx it becomes + or - 6 and it gets worse if it is printed over 0 dB. then...

You need to delay the pickup. A very rough rule is 1+D millisec, where D is the distance in feet in a direct line from pickup to mic. Don't touch the polarity (phase), unless you are looking for a weird effect that won't work properly in mono.

I suppose my response wasn't very useful. Any time you have two version of the same signal with timing and other differences, there's going to be some kind of phase reaction. Whether it's a "problem" or not depends a lot on how you handle...
