I recently acquired a Sac 2.2 and though I'm still waiting for a driver for MOTU DP4, I'm pleased with the purchase--I use it in Mackie emulation mode and it is functional.

These are going for about $700 on Ebay. There's a guy who seems to have an endless supply of them and starts the bid at $1 with a $700 reserve.

I don't know about the support yet. They guys in Germany are very responsive, but they've had problems with their US office. It seems the US support guy quit the job and forgot to tell his employers.

I was just looking at the d8b myself. thinking I could get it to control sonar, and maybe one day get an HDR one day. Without the goal of one day getting a modular recorder, then I think it's way too much money for what you'll be doing with it, even at $2500(sweet price though).
If I were using Nuendo, I don't think I'd consider a modular hardDisk recorder, even with the d8b, it's too much of a step backwards.
