Dan Auerbach has an amazing voice.. But i am more interested on how he mixes his vocals. I run a home studio with Logic Studio. What effects, Eq, would you use to get the sound you hear in his voice on Black Keys Records

First thing I saw when I saw those big copper mics was "I bet Tom Waits uses them".

And yeah, one of his producers is on their list. 8)

It wouldn't be exactly the same, but recreating that sound with EQ wouldn't be too difficult. Cut out most of the low end, then maybe take another notch out of the mids, but leave a little bit of top end for clarity and sparkle.

You might want to add a little overdrive as well, just to get that old-school sound.

If you're using software, I'd recommend PSP Vintage Warmer. It's got a lovely warm saturation which will distort your voice ever-so-slightly 9if used minimally) to get the kind of bluesy tone that I think you're after.
