I am looking for help in configuring XP for optimal performance as a DAW running Sonar.

My current computer system uses Windows ME; the hardware includes MOTU 2408 mkII and MOTU Midi Timepiece AV (parellel port version).

i posted this in the Cubase section but i dont think anyone visits that, so here i go.

when i try to import mp3 files into a new song in Cubase some files it decodes to wave and some dont. when i click on the files it doesnt even give me a dialog box to say it didnt work or anything like that.

Has anyone had any really good or bad experiences recently with either XP or 98SE as I'm weighing up the pros and cons of buying the new OS.

Ya know what? I dont see what the hype is about it yet..maybe due to the fact that my system is pretty outdated I cant see a difference between XP and 2K! Dont get me wrong..my system is pretty damn fast for what it has in it!
