Compressors : Software vs Hardware

So I have the Avalon 737 and I've discovered that the compressor is a little weak. I currently use the UAD powered plugins (an LA-2A on every track) and the TC Powercore. They both have some pretty amazing plugins. But I'm wondering is there really a major difference between the hard and software ? UAD has the 1176 the Fairchild and tons on other classic gear.

I'm new, and I need help on software

Hello all...I'm new to these parts and i have a question. I am currently using Magix software to record my music and was wondering what (if any) mixers there are out there that are compatible with this program. If anyone on here uses Magix and can tell me that would be great. Oh. also i am new to the world of midi and need to know how to use the midi in the program.

Roland SPD-S/Compact Flash Card/Mac Software

Hi folks.

Today I will be receiving a brand spankin' new Roland SPD-S. This is a cool little percussion controller with onboard sounds and built-in ability to sample.

It also has expandability using a flash card. From what I understand you can bring in pre-recorded samples via the flash card.
