So what microphone am I seeing in the kick drum around 1:40ish - i think i see a Senheisser 412, but what's that skinny almost rectangular microphone in there? Any idea? I see about 3 microphones the 412, the AKG D112 stuck just in the hole and then that skinny unknown microphone

Lots of Sennheiser 421's. Some top on the toms and some bottom....Also the Neumann U67's on the second set of overheads in X/Y, the STC( Coles??) 4038's way up there....the API Legacy....Looked like a crapload of LA2's in that far rack in the CR.....
The kick drum was completely blurred on my screen......
Nice set of DW's with the Camco hardware....
Sure, we can all get that in our basement/garages..............

haha Yeah man I wish the bass drum wasn't so screwe'd up from what I can tell there's a 421 pointed just under the beaters, maybe an AKG D112 just inside the hole and like Patrick said a MD 441 outside of the drum next to the beaters or inside next to the beaters, that's my guess....yeah I was seeing those 421's on the toms, really weird theyre basically 90 degrees to the toms, i would expect a little more angle down towards the drums (since of course it's not a side address microphone)
Yeah that kit is beautiful, little wobbly on the toms though, but judging the kit is maple, it's got to be heavy on that rack....not quite sure why there is a second kick drum when he's clearly playing with a double kick pedal
This is an exercise in mental masturbation. No offense to anyon

No offense to anyone here in this post, but for the love of god. I'm getting so sick and tired of drummers with double kicks, 7 toms, 10 cymbals...JESUS CHRIST! After a while, it simply becomes a wash of white noise anyway.
Do drummers or "musicians" (yes, quotations intended) not realize what the purpose of drums are any more?
On a separate rant, I was walking through our local mall last night and I had to stop when I walked by these 3 stores within 30 seconds -
Game Stop
Spencers
Hot Topic
In all 3 stores, it was death/scream metal and I saw a bunch of kids sitting there "rocking out" to the horrible noise! I'm not saying all death/scream metal is horrible noise, but the vast majority is. In this case, all 3 stores were playing different tracks, but you'd swear it was all the same idiots. there was nothing but a single note being destroyed on an overly distorted guitar with a bunch of other filler crap on another guitar with a bass operating only on the bottom string or two and the drums beating the piss out of everything. Then, on top of it, the vocals were nothing but this throaty growl of nothingness. The words weren't even discernable.
I swear to god, I am going to put out an album of nothing but white noise with different filters applied in different tracks and I'm willing to bet you that I'd sell a million copies!!!! Put some shitty drums behind it and sit back and collect the royalties.
Dave - do you remember when Aerosmith and AC/DC were "screamer" bands? Shit I'm getting old!

This album is all live drums, you can hear it in the songs on their myspace, I was thinking the same thing, the last AS album was all sampled drums, but nope this album is all live delicious DW drums!
As for Cucco, I know exactly what you mean! So far I've only had to record one of those bands once, and it was terrible! It's my worst recording ever! I went to go fix the tone on the amp and the kid went back in to change it, and go figure - shit! I'm almost ashamed of it that I don't even use it as an example of my skills on my resume!
The metal bands I record sound like musicians and play more than two notes at a time! Hell my brother is writing a 12 song disc (each month of the year, yeah concept album!) and each song at all time has at least 3 guitar parts at once - a guitorchistra - and he's only 16! (http://myspace.com/yeolderelic)
I'm in 2 metal bands, and I don't even listen to metal anymore, like only if there's something really skillful going on, I don't bother, because most of the time it not only sounds like shit, but it was recorded as such!
I've been getting into happy singsong rock songs that are very 70's 80's inspired, plus going back to my Beatles catalogue! (I just found the unheard tapes of Shea Stadium NO SCREAMING! it's a gem!)
But back to the drums, I know for a fact this guy uses every drum on that kit, and he's a quite skilled drummer, his flam quintuplets he throws in his fills are very impressive, I have to give him and the guitarist of this band credit because they're both award winning musicians.
ya i think the majority of those even on the kick are the md 421
