hey everyone
i am putting together a very special project
it's the first 24/96 hybrid CD we are doing

these tracks are all in 16/44
but i wanted to throw them to you guys

does anyone have any suggestions for proper mastering?

what do YOU think would sound good?

this will be my first real attempt at this.
the band likes the sound of rubber soul by the beatles
and anything by ben folds and ben folds five
(clear open highs, warm mids, big-bottom bass)

thanks everyone for your input
you can find them here...

ftp://67.176.234.234

by the way the band's name is the morningsides
their homepage is http://www.tomperona.com

they also have a page at http://www.myspace.com/morningsides

the recording and mixing engineer is a member of the band -- he would welcome any criticism about mixing levels etc

enjoy!

I'll suggest you to export it straigth from the your software to .mp3 instead to just changing the kbs if it's still on .wav it will preobably still be kind of large, if you cannot perform the switch from one format to another straitght from the software if you want you can download a little program from my ftp site, install it and just rigth click from the mouse and convert from ,wav to .mp3, if you may ask if this could be a scam ar some spyware I can asure it is NOT, I had it in my computer for years and is awesome.

Zoro.

Does sound like everything was recorded well. As for mastering. Things on their own sound pretty good. But it's not cohesive. levels are a little off from track to track. Some tracks are nice a thick, others thin. You need to pull everything together more. each on their own is ok, but as a whole there is some more work that needs to be done. I also hear some compression pumping but not sure if that a mix thing. I'm listening on m-audios connected to me laptop so I'm not on my studio monitors. But i'm noticing some pretty big differences from track to track on these so it'll be more pronounced on a nicer system. but over all I like how some are sounding.

thanks mike

i wish there had been more comments posted, but i have talked to many others and said basically the same thing as mike.

so if anyone wants these tracks, please grab them now.
i'm going to turn off the ftp in about 24-48 hours i guess

by the way, the huge differences in the material is one of the things that musically appealed to me with this band, they have 4 completed cd's already. but with this huge range of material they have, and also the fact that the final product is only as good as the mastering (and everything before it) i think this project definately need to be professionally mastered.

thanks for checking it out everyone
