I have heard of this CD that is available that gives you test tones to set up the proper angle/ distance for your speakers. When I was selling Hi Fi gear we had something similar. But honestly if you listen for yourself and work within the parameters of your space it's not difficult. There are some guidelines.
A= your head
B= striaght in front of you.
C= the right speaker
Thnk of it like a triangle.
Distance:
A-C 78inch
A-B 68inch
B-C 39inch.
The ratio stays the same. When measuring, measure your nose to the center of the speaker driver.
It may look odd but it works.

Joe, what I use to align is the basic equilateral triangle and when sat, the mid point of my ears are at the same height of the mid point of the near fields. But seems the test is much more deeper, Ihave seen somewhere, maybe it was glenn meadows who mentioned it.
