Im sure everybody has heard the news or rumors. Has anyone have any insight to the future of the company though? I really liked them and was planning on getting the HD24 thing. No doubt the technology is here to stay but will Numark allow it to be had so easily ? Any thoughts?

Numark is in business to turn a profit, so they'll most likely take the items that were "earners" and continue to manufacture them. They'll also more than likely take the units that were dragging down the resources of the company and jetison them from the product line.

Something tells me that things like the 'masterlink' and the 'multitrack hard disk recorder' will remain, but things like the 'tape based' adat will disappear.

Look at the bright side, if I remember correctly, they'll be responsible for maintaining a spare parts inventory for the tape based adats for 7 years from the final date of manufacture...the chances of any of them lasting 7 years are directly between slim and none.

I dunno, I see a lot of blackfaces out there still ticking. I'm using one here at home, in fact. Steady use in a commercial room would likely kill it. I know these things aren't exactly pinnacles of reliability. A friend on mine with a commercial room went to hard disk. He keeps the ADAT's just for outside projects. Kinda hate to see the tape-based ones go, however...they are a handy and cheap multitrack.

I know there are people at Alesis now, I'm just not sure I still know any of them. Those whose e-mail addresses I knew are gone.

If there's anyone from Alesis reading this forum (and is in a position to be in a position), I'm California dreamin' again. I'd love to find some smarter-than-entry-level work. Job security isn't important. I just need an excuse to get off my duff and go to where they turn the lights out during the day sometimes.

Hey, didn't you just get back to this coast? Or were you too far north at Mackie to satisfy the left coast jones at all?
