does anyone know how to import audio CDs into pro tools using windows xp?

i've tried using the file/import audio steps but didn't work. if it's audio in the computer or audio from my external hard drive then i can import, but any audio from a CD i can't import. does it require that you have quicktime pro installed? is there any other ways to import audio CDs into pro tools? how come i can import audio CDs in Cubase sx and not in pro tools? any ideas would be appreciate it.
