Greetings everyone. I recently received a Pro Tools session from a friend of mine who has an HD system. When I imported the session into my Pro Tools setup (basically a 002, the one with the faders not the 002r) there were a ton of tracks and many of them I couldn't use because of the whole "voices" thing, not to mention all the compressors and effects on almost every other tracks resulted in a message about cpu power, and increasing the hw buffer, etc.. My question is, how can I add the ability to mix/utilize more tracks in my sessions (say, up to 40 or 50 so that the chances of me ever having this issue again are slim) and how can I increase my cpu power or over all computer power so that I can use all the effects I have (well, not all but currently I can't use a lot and I really like to be able to take advantage of all my plugs, especially when experimenting)? ideally, I'd like to be able to do all this without breaking the bank, but I'm open to ANY suggestions because I really don't want to toggle around with my tracks when I can listen to all of them. I've tried making all stereo tracks, dumping the mono tracks into those and panning accordingly but it's just not the same. TIA for any input.
I'm running an Imac G5 2.1ghz with 1.5gb ram

The powercore would be cool but remember that its VST plugs so you'll need a wrapper and you'll need to hope the wrapper supports the powercore plugs and I'm pretty sure these plugs will introduce some delay to your tracks which you'll need to compensate for. If you have a computer with an available pci slot then I'd recommend the UAD-1 plugs. You can get the project pack with 15 plug in for 400 bucks, plus you get the uad-1 pci dsp card which takes some of the load off your processor. Now as far as track count, you're stuck at 32 tracks. You could try combining your tom tracks, maybe some guitar tracks, pretty much anything that isn't critical and that won't need to be mixed seperately.

AFAIK (and I'm not a ProTools user so I could be wrong) the only way to get access to more tracks/voices in PT is to step up to HD (or back to TDM) and either way this won't be cheap.
The only other alternative (that I can think of) is to take/start your projects to a professional studio that has PT 'proper' already in use.
