And this multieffects unit is. .a VAMP2.
Yeah yeah yeah, I know. But its used at church where we are fighting stage volume issues. Here's the deal-
The FOH can't seem to figure out when I'm 'leading', or doing a lead. Or when I need pushed. So I am taking matters into my own hands. I don't know if I can put a BOOST pedal after the VAMP (before the DI box). IF this is the case, then I can use one of my OD stomps with just some added volume. (Blues Driver).
However, if this is NOT the case, then I want to have a RadioShack solution. The signal would run thru the "volume Attenuator" most of the time, then I would stomp-switch it off so that my volume increases. A volume soak that is on most of the time.
I don't want a volume pot because I just want to stomp and go. So will a resistor swithed into the signal work? Will it suck tone?
Will it just suck?
Am I smoking the bad tobacco here? Is this assinign? I just want a power boost! (Or a soak, and then a boost) (or a guy who will turn me up properly!)
Here's the input/output info on the VAMP-
(I'm running a few pedals before the VAMP2 now and it seems to work OK. But the OD before the VAMP drives its 'simulation' more than I'd like with not enough increase in volume to justifiy it)

Output impedance 2.2kohm
Max Output level +20 dBu (this makes me NOT want to put a stompbox after the output)

Ah yes. For some reason this simple solution has eluded me. I guess I was looking past the obvious- just used louder presets. Most of my banks are set up with 5 different sounds so I use one bank for a whole set. Clean to dirty.
I'll just run the MIDI program and set up some new presets. However!
This 'Volume Soak' is still on the Project List. I'd like to put one in front of my stage monitor to drop the sound level on stage. Like a kill switch of sorts so I can only hear my guitar in the house; getting a vibe for what the FOH is doing to me. Any thoughts on this one? Even if its a no-go, I'd like to understand the concept and how to do this kind of stuff.

Never used a V-Amp, but since it's basically a Pod with crappier parts, it probably works the same (therefore, all of the following comments come from my experience with a Pod)
You can use a stomp box on the way in to give yourself a volume boost.
If you are using mainly one tone and are able to switch patches on the V-amp, you can re-save your patch in a different location and boost the volume slightly, then just switch between the original patch and the boosted patch. This can be done with a midi program change or one of the V-amps footswitches. I used to do this quite a bit with my pod pro if I wanted to solo using the same basic tone I was using for rythm.
