Need an upgrade from FL Studio for audio recording

Hey everybody! I am a high school kid, with a fair amount of recording experience with bands, acoustic projects, orchestra's, and internal instruments. My school has a really great recording program with macs that run logic pro. Unfortunately, I do not have the money to buy a mac computer for my home, so I have been running FL for 3 years or so. FL has treated me great, and it truly is an amazing program. I have basically mastered it, but I feel that it is becoming to unproffessional compared to using Logic at school. I really love the easy and user friendly interface of FL, but I dont like the audio recording functions. I hate how when you record into the playlist, its just a random wav that isn't assigned to a track on the mixer. The track view is very weak and innefecient compared to most of the DAW's I have used. Although it is not a huge issue, it is something I would like to fix. In the past, I have used FL to make a lot of electronic music with realtime elements(acoustic guitars, vocals, etc...), and also some acoustic stuff. I have bee writing a new experimental folk album and want to record it soon. By the way for hardware I have a mixer with a usb out, 1 Shure sm 57, and one Audio-Technica condenser I got for free from a friend. Recently, people have been telling me that FL is just too unproffesional to make anything worthwhile, and I could see how that could be true. I was wondering what your opinions were on recording in FL studio, and if it would be a good idea to stick with it. If not, what are some other programs that have a nice track view, good effects, and will overall treat me well. I know this post really makes me seem like I have no idea what I am doing, but I do, haha, I just cant show it well. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

PS. I downloaded the demo of Reaper and it looks promising. Thoughts?
