Well, I'm still working on a good setup to start mixing with monitor-wise. I know that some of you are probably sick of hearing me ask monitor questions. I know I need to choose something and just learn how to mix on it. But I do want to make sure I start on the best foot I can start on. Right now low-end is a problem - I just can't hear it well enough to make good decisions. My room is treated pretty well with panels based on Ethen Winer's designs...
I've gone between getting headphones to check the bass with to getting some big cheap hi-fi speakers to getting a sub-woofer. Based on feedback so far, I think the headphones and sub are out.

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

I would avoid using headphones or a sub woofer for critical mix decisions. Both imho are misleading.
If you want low end info, look into Tannoy DMT 12's. I have a pair and they are "my" best low-end reference.
