Not sure about the jamaica fake accent.. More in tune than the other song. Like the reverb.
Not sure about the long vocal pauses.. could use a melodic instrument in there (solo or other) ;)

I'm into the 80's, I get tapping when something sounds like UB40 and has electronic drums and bass mixed well. Nice job .

In some aspects, your mix sounds better than this huge hit. I think you need to improve the space of your mixes and you will be doing great.
