Excellent as always Marco. On your guitar I would have chosen the mid/side out of all the choices presented.

I would have liked to hear an X/Y with SDCs as well as the over the shoulder with SDCs with the 'over' mic being above your left ear and the second mic being below the bridge on the lower bout.

But thats just me!

The only SDC pair I own are C1000s.. not very good. They came with the AKG Drum kit..
This reminds me that I could buy a second SM 81... it could be nice to have..

Fully agree on not using the C1000S. I also own a pair of them and even as a hobbyist, I wouldn't and don't use them. I actually consider the marik mod on them (just curious), but that's off topic.

M/S and X/Y sounded the most pleasing to my ears, but as you stated ... it all depends on the song, stereo spread and the sound you're after.

I've had quite good results with a rhode m5 matched pair (cheap cheap cheap SDC's) on acoustic guitars. But then again, I can't afford high end mics, so the value of this remark might be quite useless.
