Seems the 212L is for the API legacy console, and the 212S is for the Sony MXP-3000 console, but i can't seem to find what the 212 is... I'm hoping it's compatible with the legacy stuff....
I just had a pic emailed to me: The 212 does not have a pad or phantom switch, nor a meter. Just a gain knob and an LED. The connector also appears to be different - not the standard 30 connection edge card type that i'm used to, but a 15 pin connector.
They also use a 2510 op-amp. My understanding is that the 212L has the 2520... Huge difference there.
Never did figure out what consoles these were made for...
My guess....>>read Guess...is they were specific to a particular API console...perhaps a 24 series....but all that I've seen of that series had 512's in em...Maybe a desktop model???good question!
